A Brief for the Science museum to create a short animation, about black hole’s, aimed at 8 - 14 year old.
We used the Japanese puppetry technique ‘banraku’, where items are held up against a black surface, and all unwanted items are blacked out to create the illusion that the item is moving by itself.
Black Hole’s represent in science the unknown, the part of science that is still left to the imagination. This link between the imagination and science is often forgotten or unknown to children.
We submitted alongside the film, an idea for a workshop based at the science museum, that would help clarify the bridge between art and science.
